Comments Photographic evidence from the turn of the century strongly suggests that both drivers and conductors wore informal attire (see link). Although unmarked kepi-style caps were issued from around 1905 onwards, with the men having a notably smarter appearance, differences in the styles of the jackets and greatcoats suggest that the garments were self-purchased; it is therefore unlikely that marked uniform buttons ever existed.
