Comment Photographs taken during the first 15 years or so of the system's life have not survived, so it is unclear whether or not uniforms were worn during this period; however, photographs taken after 1898 clearly show staff wearing informal attire (see link). A single photograph, which was probably taken after the BETCo takeover, shows a crew wearing double-breasted jackets with metal buttons; the latter were probably of the standard BETCo pattern.
